Annapurna Range and the town of Pokhara is dominated in central Nepal. There are various trekking routes in the region: To Jomsom/Muktinath, Panchase, Sikles, The Royal Trek, Annapurna sanctuary, the circuit of entire Annapurna massif. Pokhara is also a good starting place for number of short treks of 3 to 7 days duration. Mustang is also geographically a part of the Annapurna Region, but because treks to mustang are subject to special restrictions.
About two thirds of the trekkers in Nepal visit the Annapurna region. The area is easily accessible, hotels in the hills are plentiful and treks here offer good scenery of both high mountains and lowland villages. No matter where you trek in the Annapurna region, you will eventually pass through Pokhara. The trek to Jomsom begins a short journey by bus from Pokhara and around the Annapurna trek ends at the same point. A spectacular panorama of Nepal’s central Himalaya, The Annapurnas, Machhapuchhre. Day 1: Arrive in Kathmandu (1330m)
Arrival Kathmandu, Assistant upon arrival and transfer to Hotel, briefing about the itinerary Overnight at hotel
Day 02: Sightseen tour in Kathmandu.
After breakfast, at 9 am sightseeing tour to Pashupatinath( famous Hindus temple in south Asia, Boudhanath( Biggest Buddhist stupa in the world) Patan city (16 century royal palace), Syambhunath( Buddhist hill top temple), Kathmandu City. Overnight at hotel.
Day 03: Kathmandu to Pokhara drive 6-7 hrs (850 m) (Flight or private transport upgrade possible)
After breakfast we start our journey to Pokhara After Scenic 6-7 hours (200km) drive you will reach beautiful and peaceful town Pokhara. Or you may take a 30 min flight to Pokhara enjoying the non-stop mountain scenery and valleys. This option cost an extra $109.
A city with a large lake that offers us the magnificent views of various mountains. Dhaulagiri, the whole Annapurna range, Machhapuchre (Fishtail) amongst others.
Day 04: Drive to Naya Pul (New bridge), and trek to Tikhe Dhunga (1495m/4905ft).
Breakfast. After an hour drive to Naya Pul then commence our trek to Birethanti, a large and prosperous town beside the Modi River. Head up the main trail to Sudami where we climb gradually up the side of the valley, reaching Hile (1495m) before pushing on to Tirkhe Dhunga. From here the trail crosses a stream and then ascends a step stone staircase to the large Magar village at Ulleri (2070m). 3:30 hours
Day 05: Trek to Ghorepani (2850 m) 6-7 hrs.
We begin our journey after breakfast, continuing along stone steps we climb up to Ulleri. It takes around 2 hours to climb up 500m. We continue to walk another hour through the mountain village and stop for lunch. After lunch we enter the rhododendron forest which is a beautiful walk. Another 3 hours walking after lunch we will reach Ghorepani.
Day 06: Ghorepani to Poon Hill to Tadapani (2520m/8268ft).
An early start and an hour hiking to Poon Hill (3195m) leads us to a brilliant spectacle, this vantage point provides an unobstructed view of sunrise over the high Himalayas. After spending about 45 minutes on the hillside, we come back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast, and start walking to Tadapani. From Ghorepani the trail climbs along ridges and through pine and rhododendron forests to Deurali (2960m). We descend to reach Banthanti, before winding our way to Tadapani (2540m). 6 :30 hours
Day 07: Trek to Chomrong (2140 m) 5-6 hrs.
We start our trek with a steep descent through the forest towards a delightful little village located on the lap of the giant Annapurna massive known as Chomrong. Along the way to Chomrong you will see stunning peaks including Annapurna South (7219m), Himchuli (6434m) and Fishtail (6997m). (Over night at tea house on full board basis)
Day 08: Trek to Dovan (2600 m) 5-6 hrs.
After breakfast we start our trek and again our trial decends down to the banks of the river Chhomrong Khola. Then we cross the suspension bridge and continue our ascent along the stone steps to place called Sinuwa. After Sinuwa the trail leads us through very thick bamboo and rhododendron forests to reach a village called Bamboo where we will have our lunch. After lunch, we walk for 1 more hour to Dovan through mixed forest. (Over night at tea house on full board basis)
Day 09: Trek to Machhapuchre Base Camp (3700 m) 4-5 hrs.
After a gradual ascent through the river banks of Modi Khola we reach Deurali for our lunch stop and we cross the landslide area to go to Machhapcuhre base camp which takes around 1 and a half hours more. (Over night at tea house on full board basis)
Day 10: Trek to Annapurna base camp (4110 m) 4-5 hrs.
Enjoy the morning view from Machhapuchare base camp and after breakfast continue to ascend to Annapurna base camp, our final destination. This place is totally surrounded by spectacular mountains. After lunch you have free time to explore the Annapurna glacier and all around
Day 11: Trek back to Bamboo (2340 m) 5-6 hrs.
Wake up early morning, enjoy the morning sun light views on the mountain, have breakfast and back down the same way back to Bamboo. (Over night at tea house on full board basis)
Day 12: Trek back to Jhinu (1780 m) 5-6 hrs.
After breakfast we trek to Chomrong the same way. Where you spent one night one the way up is where we stop for lunch. then its a decent down to Jhinu Danda, where there is natural hot spring to help relax tired legs. When we reach Jhinu Dada we will have a rest and enjoy bathing in natural hot springs. When we have finished relaxing, it's back to the tea house
Day 13: Trek back to Nayapul and on to Pokhara 5-6 hrs.
The last day of trekking is to Nayapul from where we started our trek. After breakfast we will follow the river bank of the Modi Khola via the local villages. We will continue our journey into the Syauli bazaar to Birethati and Nayapull. End the trek and drive back to pokhara. Free evening, with chance to enjoy a hot shower, clean clothes and then out to the city for a cold beer and good food, what else.
Day 14: Fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu
We fly to Kathmandu in the afternoon. The left side of the airplane offers some amazing views of the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, we will be escorted to our hotel. We enjoy the day leisurely or catch up on some last minute shopping or explore any landmarks we missed during our first day in Kathmandu. In the evening, we will attend a celebration dinner together. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 15: Final Departure
Our journey in Nepal comes to an end today! Alfresco Adventure representative will drop us off at the airport approximately 3 hours before our scheduled flight. On our way to home, we have plenty of time to plan our next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

How difficult is the Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
In terms of terrain there are no ropes needed and no ice picks needed. There is no vertical climbing involved.
The trail is rough, rocky and gravel strewn. Most of the trek involves long paths that go up and then down. People with weak ankles should take caution. Depending on the time of year you go there can also be snow and ice in the trails. Use caution or seek the expertise of our guide.

November/December to January/February: the skies are clear but it can get very cold.

What equipment do I need to go trekking to Annapurna Base Camp Trek?
Trekking permits you need include the SNPE & TIMS available at agents and through the official Nepal Tourism Board offices (Mountain World Treks take care of this for you).
After that it depends on the time of year in regards to clothing and equipment. The following are necessities:
A good pair of hiking boots
A wind cheater style jacket
Good quality socks
Long sleeve shirts
Water bottles (water purification system)
Keep in mind if you do the trek during the off-peak winter season you'll need to carry extra clothing. Wearing layers is essential as it can get hot during the day so you'll remove clothing then. While when the sun goes down it can get very cold very fast.
Meanwhile in during the monsoon season you'll need to bring a rain jacket, cap and think about additional socks. It's harder to dry things out so spares are essential for more information.
