Poon Hill Trek

Poon hill trek is one of the best trek destinations in the Annapurna region. It offer a scenic view of the gentle Mt. Annapurna, Mt. Machhapuchre, Himchuli and Mt. Dhaulagiri Himalayan range in a close distance from an altitude of the hill view tower 3210m from sea level with 180- degree aerial view. Poon hill Nepal is also known as mini Annapurna circuit trek because its beauty and adventure. The short, colorful and relatively easy trek, takes its place in the western part of Kathmandu into the Annapurna region, one of the best trekking destination in Nepal which attracted 60% trekker in this place.

Poon hill trekking route map is beginning from Nayapul after around 2 hours’ drive from Pokhara depend upon road condition. Our trekking route goes through small beautiful Gurung and Magar village of Ulleri, Ghorepani, and Ghandruk. In this trekking you will cover around 50% trail to the annapurna base camp trek via poon hill and off beaten trail Khopra danda trek.

You will be enjoyed by observing background mountain views from villages on a picture squire. Is poon hill trek difficult for every on 

During your trek, it is restively easy to hike approximately 4-5 hours walk with average elevation which will reduce the chances of high altitude sickness. However you will be physically fit but you have not face highly physical difficulties, it is an easy and common trail for every one. The trekking trail is not constantly ups and down it is moderate level for trekking. Those who wish to trek with their famaily too.  

It’s not only a hike you will encounter natural gift waterfalls, hot springs, different species of rhododendron forest, rare species of birds and animals along the trail. Ghorepani Poonhill trekking can be 5-6 days or your optional choose how long or short you want depending upon your time limited and budget. During the trip, your accommodation will be arranged depending upon your itinerary and budget. In Kathmandu and Pokhara you can have the variety of option to choose accommodation.

So, You can choose 5-star category hotel to tourists’ standard category or budget hotel and lodges as well as a hostel and homestay were also available. But during your trek, there is only a few numbers of hotels and lodge were available. You can have no other alternative option except that. But the alternative can be camping trek. Most of the accommodation were operate by the local people so you will not expect the high quality of food and services during the trek. However the food was local product and hygienic and the accommodation were safe, they provide you minimum basic facility like Wi-Fi, charging, hot water and so on.

Best time for poon hill trekking !!!

Poonhill trekking is an easy trail with beautiful views of green landscape farming field. The trekking can be easier during the best weather, where there is no rain and snow. So, that September to November and March to May is best time for Poon hill trekking .

From September to November in this month monsoon is over and the sky is clear, most of the big Nepalese festivals Dashain and Tihar were fall during at that time. In that time many people returned to their house and most of the flower was blooming in this season. The trekker can enjoy festivals and activities during that period.

In March to May, the winter season is over out the climate is moderate at that time mountains were covered full of snow some time you can get chance to play with snow. However, Ghorepani poon hill trek can be done every time during the all-around the year no need to wait for the best time for the trek because it is in low altitudes among the other trail in the Annapurna region, Langtang and Everest region.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Arrived at Airport

At your arrival in Kathmandu, a member of our team will greet and receive you at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the day is yours. In the evening we be enjoying complimentary local dinner at the typical Nepali cousin restaurant with cultural program on local song.

Day 2

Full day Kathmandu city tour.

After breakfast, our office representative and your trekking guide will meet you at your hotel or our office and discuss about all programs and coordinate any last-minute arrangements. After the staff meeting, one of our professional tour guides will take you on a sightseeing trip and then back to the hotel. Rest of the day can be used for traveling around Thamel and buying any last minute equipment and other necessities. (Overnight at hotel on BB basis)

Day 3

Drive to Pokhara from Kathmandu.

After breakfast we start our onward journey to Pokhara after Scenic 5-6 hours (200km) drive you will encounter different landscape of hills and mountains, climate variation, housing pattern of village people, farming land on a seasonable crops along the highway. It goes on the bank of Trishuli river and Marshyangdi river. Then after you will reach the beautiful and peaceful town Pokhara. A city with a Beautiful Phewa lake that offers us the magnificent views of various mountains. Dhaulagiri, the whole Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre (Fishtail) among others. Overnight at hotel.

Day 4

Pokhara - Tikhedhunga (1491m).

1-hour drive from Pokhara takes us to the starting point of our trek. Crossing the suspension bridge over the Modi Khola River, we ascend slowly through terraced fields and classic mountain villages. Along the way, we will encounter mule or goat caravans carrying supplies to the mountains, heralded by the musical bells they wear. The stunning peaks of Machhapuchhre and Annapurna peaking over the green ridges will greet us from time to time as we continue up to Tikhredhunga.

Day 5

Tikhedhunga - Ghorepani (2855m).

The morning breakfasts will be provided at the Hotel where we stayed after you packed the bags and will climb around 3500 m small stone steps to Ulleri which takes around 2 hours slowly walk. The first view of Annapurna South (7219m) on North side can be visible. Then you fallow forestry trail to Nangethanti for lunch passing thick Rhododendron forests. After Lunch here, you walk one and half hour up to arrive Ghorepani passing again Rhododendron trees.

Day 6

Sunrise at Poon Hill (3200m) – Trek to Tadapani [2650m]

It is an absolute must for those who stay at Ghorepani to make the walk up to the celebrated viewpoint of Poon Hill [3210m], which overlooks the village. Dawn is the best time to go so we arrange a wake up call for 5 am and head up the well-marked track by torchlight. The first light of dawn illuminates Dhaulagiri and Tukuche Peak with a surreal pink glow.

Day 7

Tadapani to Ghandruk (1940 m).

A short walk today after breakfasts leads downhill via forests and [passes verikharka. Today walk will be just for 3 hours. The Gurung cultural village Ghandrung offers their traditional museum to visit in the afternoon. You will also have chances to visit the local school here. Stay overnight.

Day 8

Ghandruk- Pokhara.

From Ghandrung all the way downhill through the village and terraced fields to Syauli Bazaar. It takes approx: 2 hours. Along the way, you can see good views of Annapurna South and Machhapuchhare too. From Syauli Bazaar, the trails follow the Modi River till Nayapul. Our lunch spot in Birethati. After lunch you have very short treks about 20 minutes to Nayapul, catch our vehicle and drive to Pokhara.

Day 9

Pokhara city sight seen Tour

After breakfast, we've sightseeing around Pokhara valley. You're free in Pokhara Valley also called "Magic Land" or Dreamland" of Nepal, to explore the various interesting place like a boating in Fewa lake overlooking the region of Annapurna Areas, David Falls, Mahendra Cave, and some Temples.

Day 10

Drive back from Pokhara to Kathmandu

After breakfast in the morning transfer to Pokhara Bus Park or airport to Kathmandu. If you traveling by bus which takes 7 hours again on the Prithivi highway along the river and if you prefer a flight which takes only 33 minutes. Arrive Kathmandu and stay overnight at Kathmandu hotel.

Day 11

Final departure

Today is your last day with us in Nepal. You will escort to the airport for your onward destination with the unforgettable moment of your life from the wonderful Poonhill Trek. Our office representative came at your hotel for pick up and drop you at the airport. Early 2 hr before your flight time.
