The royal trek

The royal trek is named as by Prince Charles and his 90 person entourage had explored this route in the early eighties. After that, the name of the trail is known as The Royal Trek. Which is famous for a short and easy trek near and around the city of natural paradise Pokhara, which follow a shrub-like path along the foothills of Annapurna. It is located on the western region of Nepal. Trek starts from the Kalikastan ridge, about 25 km and end from Begnas Lake 30 km west of the seven lake city Pokhara. Trek starts from on the altitude of 830 m at Pokhara and reaches up to 1730 m on a syaklung hilltop from the sea level.

Particular route of the royal trek is through the Annapurna region one of the most famous and easygoing. It is extremely enjoyable and requires no technical knowledge making it an excellent trek for beginners and elderly people. The journey leads through ethnic villages with extremely rich and diverse of Gurung and other culture. It also offers panoramic views of the Pokhara valley, scenic of green landscape field, the northern Annapurna range and Mt. Fishtail, Langtang, Dhaulagiri, Lamjung Himal and explore the ethnic culture. Our hiking trail goes through the rhododendron forests and villages. This trek provides you an opportunity to study or observe traditional lifestyle, mixed culture of village people in one place. If you like physical activity in the outdoors, the “Royal Trek” can be a flavorful, challenging experience. In relatively other trekking areas in this region like Poonhill trek ABC trek, Annapurna Royal Trek is less crowd, will be near with nature and the local people. You will get a good chance to learn something from the local people.

Best time for the royal trek

The best time for trekking in the trail starts from last February to last June and September to late November.

The royal trek cost

The trek cost 680 USD is start from per person basis. It cover the tourist stander service in accommodation at Kathmandu and Pokhara with BB plan and accommodation with all meal breakfast, lunch and dinner in Teahouse during the trek. It includes all land transportation as per the itinerary and so on. But it will be changes in deepen upon a number of pax and the level of the service where the guest wants.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1

Arrival in Kathmandu

You will be met by a representative of Alfresco Adventure Travel at Tribhuvan International Airport and transferred to a Hotel. Remainder of the afternoon is at leisure. A pre-trek briefing will be given by your guide. And all arrangements will be made for trekking and distribution of your trekking permit. In evening we have a welcome dinner at typical Nepal restaurant with Nepalese food, Dal bhat (rice and lentil) and curry. Overnight at hotel Kathmandu.

Day 2

Kathmandu sightseeing

After breakfast, we start an interesting tour around Kathmandu. Escorting by an English speaking guide (can be provide any language speaking guide on request) be, try to give them a full taste of our vivid culture image and an enchanting manner of its people. In our sightseeing tour we go to Monkey temple Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Kathmandu Durbar square

Day 3

Drive Pokhara [823m/2,700ft]: 6-7 hrs. drive

Early morning, we take a tourist bus to Pokhara. If you are lucky and get the right side of the bus, you can take pleasure in amazing views of green mountains and villages. Upon reaching the enchanting city of Pokhara which offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhre, five peaks of Annapurna and others, we check in to the hotel. Pokhara has numerous lakes, known as 'Tal' in Nepali which offer fishing, boating and swimming. Strolling around the Lakeside city and exploring it in the evening is enjoyable. Overnight in a hotel in Pokhara.

Day 4

Pokhara to Kalikasthan [1,370m/4,496ft]: 1 hr. drive, 4-5 hrs. trek

Today, after breakfast we drive one hour to Bijayapur Khola to Origen point our trek. Initially we start our walk for about an hour through flat paddy fields and cross the river. After crossing the river the trail starts to ascend to Kalikasthan. Lunch will be served midway through the climb. After arriving at Kalikasthan, we rest for some time then explore the surrounding areas. We spent overnight at a local Tee house.

Day 5

Kalikasthan to Syaklung [1,730m/5,675ft]:5-6 hrs.

After breakfast, we start walking through the villages. We walk along the ridge of the mountain which offers good views of Annapurna and Lamjung Himal. Today, we explore many local villages and the rhododendron forests. Overnight at Syaklung in local guesthouse.

Day 6

Syaklung to Chisapani [1550m/5,084ft]: 5-6 hrs.

Walking through the Gurung village gives an opportunity to observe the local lifestyle. We move ahead playing a game of hide and seek with the rhododendron and Sal trees. Half way through the walk there is a 400m descent, then a 600m ascent for us to arrive at Chisapani. This is the best view point to see the Himalayan Panorama. You will see Dhaulagiri to the west of Annapurna. Overnight in Tea house.

Day 7

Chisapani to Pokhara

Today we walk half way down the hill to Rupatal and climb about 200 meters to arrive at Sundare Danda. Walk 15 minutes down to Begnas Tal and enjoy an hour of boating. Transfer to Pokhara, check in at a hotel and take rest or explore the Lake side. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8

Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu: 6-7 hrs. drive

Early morning, we take a tourist bus to get back to Kathmandu. Watching scenic countryside en route makes our long bus journey interesting. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, your guide will transfer you to your hotel. Rest of the day can be spent at leisure or perhaps catching up with some last minute shopping or exploring any sights you missed during your first day in Kathmandu. Stay overnight in Kathmandu.

Day 9

Farewell Friend

Your trip comes to an end today! There is nothing to do. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. A representative from Alfresco Adventure Travel will take you to the airport approximately 3 hours before the scheduled flight. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

Clothing : down or fiber filled waterproof, jacket and trousers, sweater or fleece jacket, underwear, warm and cotton trousers or jeans, shirts and T-shirt, shorts, long underwear, wool hat, sun hat, gloves, bathing suit, track suit.


Other equipment: sleeping bag (4 seasons), trekking hold all or stash sack with lock, daypack, water bottle, sun cream, trekking sticks, sunglasses, flashlight with spare bulbs and batteries, lip salve.
